IDFA for professionals
With close to 3,000 professional guests every year, including hundreds of filmmakers bringing their latest works to Amsterdam, IDFA is one of the world's most important meeting places for the documentary industry.
Alongside the festival, two documentary markets take place every November. Docs for Sale brings together the latest creative documentaries on the market and TV buyers, distributors and festival programmers from all over the world. Co-financing and co-production market IDFA Forum connects independent filmmakers and producers with potential financiers, funds and coproducers to help get their films made. Meanwhile, IDFA's new media program DocLab has become one of the festival’s pillars, including a host of industry events such as the Interactive Conference, Immersive Network, DocLab Academy and various talks.
The activities during the festival go alongside investments in the documentary industry throughout the year. The IDFA Bertha Fund stimulates the documentary climate in developing countries, funding the production of creative documentaries as well as initiatives to screen these films in their home territories. To stimulate new talent and high level documentary production, IDFAcademy offers workshops and training programs for up-and-coming filmmakers, producers and digital media artists.
